Worldwide Corporate Directory

All Address-UNITs can be seen as a worldwide corporate directory for private and business solutions.

The market potential for address data is exorbitant. Every person and every company has and needs address data. Established companies and standards largely cover the market. The conceptual advantages of UNITED-PAGES promise a restructuring of the market.

Status Quo

Contact - Status Quo

For address data, there is an almost unmanageable number of competing products that work together 'more badly than right' (e.g. MS-Outlook, LinkedIn). As a user, you can also notice this by the fact that some contacts appear several times in your own address book due to synchronization.

For the exchange of address data, the vCard standard is intended. It allows to exchange a variety of information about individuals and other entities (e.g. formatted and structured name and delivery addresses, email address, multiple telephone numbers, photograph, logo, audio clips, etc.) but even the latest version is not 'up-to-date' (e.g. it cannot be stored via which messenger a person/company wants to be contacted). Version incompatibilities have frightened many users in the past. Even though a principal problem remains. If a single information changes (e.g. the mobile phone number) it has to be updated at any single place where it was stored and so the vCard distribution has to be repeated, not absolutely knowing where information was (redundantly) stored.

Instead of storing data redundantly at different places, UNITED-PAGES is the once-only data-store. Only a reference in the form of an email address of a contact is needed to access his contact information. When a PRODUCER makes a central change, the data (stored on a UNITED-PAGES web server) is automatically updated for all UNITED-PAGES applications accessing it. A PRODUCER only needs to know the potential CONSUMERs if individual access protection is to be configured.

A worldwide UNITED-PAGES address book promises, among other things the following advantages:

  • the payment of a charge for taking a number when changing mobile operators is now a thing of the past
  • for those who want to be reachable by mobile phone while 'on the road', but having no mobile reception (e.g. in a conference room or in the countryside), can temporarily exchange the indication of his private mobile phone number with a currently nearby fixed network connection (~call forwarding without detour)
  • nowadays it can be a costly matter for companies to be listed in different address and business directories in a uniform and up-to-date manner. Appropriate services to ensure this are not necessary with UNITED-PAGES

An Addressbook that uses UNITED-PAGES only requires that the Email-Adress of each contact has to be entered.

Via the Email-Adress the URL of the corresponding Adress-UNIT can be mapped e.g.

Email

John.Doe@goohoo.com

URL(goohoo)

https://api.goohoo.com/up/adr/john.doe/goohoo.com

URL(default)

https://www.united-pages.com/unit/adr/john.doe/goohoo.com

The response of a GET-Request will contain the current Address-Data of the contact.

Of course this information can be locally cached, so that a contact can be called via phone even when there is no internet-connection.

Migration

Android Adressbook --- UNITED-PAGER Adressbook

Every established Addressbook that does not (yet)  support UNITED-PAGES but provides an Import/Export-Interface can be synchronized with an United-Pages-Addressbook.

A UNITED-PAGES-Addressbook can import emails from an established Addressbook and  export current address-data from UNITED-PAGES in return.
